LASIK Eye Surgery Cost in London: What You Actually Pay For

LASIK Eye Surgery Cost in London: What You Actually Pay For

01 Nov 2026

At Optimal Vision, our LASIK eye surgery cost in London starts from £1,250 per eye. That's a starting price, and the final cost can vary from patient to patient depending on your eyes and prescription. It covers prescriptions up to -3.00 (spherical equivalent) and includes your consultation, scans, follow-up appointments, aftercare medication and a free enhancement within the first year if you need one.

The rest of this guide covers what moves the price up and how to compare one London quote with another without getting caught out.

How much does LASIK eye surgery cost in London?

LASIK at Optimal Vision starts from £1,250 per eye, with pricing based on treating both eyes. That's where prices start, and your own price can vary depending on your eyes. Most patients have both eyes done on the same day, so for a typical prescription the total for two eyes starts from £2,500.

Across London you'll see "from" prices that look much lower. Some are per eye, some only apply to very small prescriptions, and some leave out the scans or the aftercare. A headline number on its own doesn't tell you much. What matters is the total you'll pay once your eyes have been measured and your treatment plan is set.

We'd rather you knew the full figure before you commit, which is why your consultation and diagnostic scans for LASIK are free.

Dr Amir Mani on why our pricing is lower, and why that isn't a compromise.

What's included in the LASIK price?

Our LASIK price covers the treatment itself and everything around it for the first year. That includes:

  • Your initial consultation with a free set of diagnostic scans
  • The surgery, using a Ziemer FEMTO LDV Z8 laser to create the corneal flap and a Schwind Amaris 1050RS excimer laser to correct your vision
  • Free follow-up appointments
  • Aftercare medication and eye drops for 12 months
  • An eye shield and protective goggles
  • A free enhancement procedure up to one year after treatment, if it's needed

Enhancements are rare. They're included anyway, because a fair price shouldn't leave you paying again for a small adjustment.

After the first year, you can keep coming back to us for aftercare at a discounted fee.

Life after laser eye surgery, in a patient's own words.

What pushes up the LASIK eye surgery cost?

Three things can change your LASIK eye surgery cost in London, and we'll tell you about each one at your consultation rather than on the day.

Your prescription

The starting price applies to prescriptions up to -3.00 spherical equivalent. If you're more short-sighted than that, or long-sighted (a plus prescription), the treatment takes more planning and more laser time, so there's an additional charge. We'll give you a written estimate once we've measured your eyes.

Wavefront-guided treatment

Wavefront-guided treatment maps the small irregularities in how your eye focuses light and builds them into the laser plan. It isn't part of the starting price. Our Laser WaveFront Technology option starts from £1,400 per eye. Not everyone needs it, and your surgeon will tell you honestly whether it's worth it for your eyes.

Treating one eye

You can have one eye treated on its own, but the per-eye price may be higher, because our prices assume both eyes.

Is cheaper LASIK in London worth it?

Sometimes, but only if the cheaper quote includes the same things. When you compare clinics, ask each one the same questions:

  • Is the price per eye or for both eyes?
  • What prescription does the price cover?
  • Are the scans and consultation included?
  • How long is aftercare free, and what happens after that?
  • Is an enhancement included if you need one?
  • Who is actually doing the surgery?

That last one matters more than people expect. At Optimal Vision, treatment is led by consultant ophthalmic surgeons, including Dr Amir Mani (MD, MRCSEd, FRCOphth, Cert LRS), who has performed more than 35,000 ophthalmic procedures. You'll meet your surgeon before treatment, not just a sales adviser.

If two prices look close, the one with longer free aftercare and an included enhancement usually ends up cheaper over the following year.

A question I hear at almost every consultation

"Someone came to see me who had found a price online that looked half ours, and had nearly booked it instead. When we went through it together, that price was for one eye, it only covered a very low prescription, and the aftercare stopped after a few weeks. Once everything was added up, the gap had more or less closed. I'd always rather someone books with us knowing the full number than finds out later."

Is LASIK available on the NHS?

Usually not. The NHS says laser eye surgery is normally only available privately, because glasses and contact lenses already correct most prescriptions. That's why it's worth understanding exactly what a private LASIK price includes before you pay it.

Getting to our London clinic

Our main London clinic is at 7 Gower Street, WC1E 6HA, at the Bedford Square end of the street in Bloomsbury. Goodge Street station (Northern line) is about a five-minute walk away, and Tottenham Court Road, on the Elizabeth line, is a short walk south. We're open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.

Plan for someone to take you home after LASIK. You won't be able to drive on the day.

Frequently asked questions

How much is LASIK for both eyes in London?

At Optimal Vision, LASIK starts from £1,250 per eye, so from £2,500 for both eyes for prescriptions up to -3.00 spherical equivalent. It's a starting price, so the final cost varies from patient to patient. Higher or long-sighted prescriptions cost more, and we'll confirm your exact price after your scans.

Is the LASIK consultation free?

Yes. The initial consultation and diagnostic scans for LASIK are free. A £30 booking fee secures your appointment, and it's refundable subject to our attendance and cancellation terms.

Does the LASIK price include aftercare?

Yes. Follow-up appointments, 12 months of aftercare medication and eye drops, and a free enhancement within the first year (if needed) are all included. After the first year, aftercare continues at a discounted fee.

Why do LASIK prices vary so much between London clinics?

Mainly because clinics include different things. Prescription limits, whether the price is per eye, scan fees, the length of free aftercare and whether an enhancement is included all change the real total.

Is LASIK or LASEK cheaper?

At Optimal Vision, LASIK and LASEK start from the same price, £1,250 per eye. Your surgeon will recommend one based on your corneas and lifestyle, not on cost.
