LASER EYE SURGERY LASER EYE SURGERY

LASER EYE SURGERY

Laser eye surgery is a corrective procedure used to treat several types of eye defects like reading vision problem (presbyopia), long-sightedness (hyper myopia), short-sightedness (myopia), and astigmatism.

There are different techniques used in laser eye surgery to correct each type of eye defect. The surgery works by reshaping the cornea (the transparent part of the eye) and adjusting the eye focus to give a better vision. The eye surgeon achieves this by using laser light, and the procedure is usually painless because our anaesthetist will apply anaesthetic drops.

Types Of Laser Eye Surgery

Three types of laser eye surgery are available, namely ReLex SMILE, LASIK, and LASEK. The type suitable for you will depend on your eye health, personal preference, and medical history.

Procedure For Laser Eye Surgery

  • Consultation
During your consultation, our doctor will give you a detailed explanation of what the surgery involves and potential complications that may arise during the surgery. This helps you weigh the risks of the surgery and determine if the risks are nothing compared to the benefits.
  • Treatment plan
The consultant attending to you will create a laser eye treatment plan specifically for you. The treatment plan will be based on your condition and needs.
  • Surgery preparation
Our healthcare providers will review the laser eye surgery process with you and answer any question you have concerning the surgery.
  • The procedure
We combine the Schwind Amaris laser and the Zeimer Z8 femtosecond laser to carry out the correction process. Our anaesthetist will apply anaesthetic drops to numb the area around the eye, so the procedure does not cause pain. You can correct both eyes during one surgical session, and this takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Recovery
Eye treatments, especially laser eye surgery, requires you to know the right way to look after the eye after the procedure. This helps you get the best result following your treatment. Our consultant will inform you about all you need to do after the surgery.
You would need to avoid eye contact with water or rubbing the eyes. You'd also need to prevent dust and dirt from getting into your eyes, then wear sunglasses.
  • Follow-up consultation
After your surgery, you would need to visit our clinic a few times for our consultants to review your treatment and support you during the healing period to ensure that your eye function is at its best.
