Eye testing at Optimal Vision in London is not only about getting new glasses. Rather, it is an excellent opportunity to spot any potential problem that may pose serious threat to your eyes and vision in course of time. Moreover, regular eye check-ups help detecting many chronic health conditions like diabetes and glaucoma.

At Optimal Vision, we’re reputed for providing thorough eye check-up and a test usually last anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour. Meanwhile, our optician will access all the necessary details related to your eyes, vision and general health. Your work and hobbies won’t be left out either.

When you book an appointment for testing and treatment for the eyes with us, you’re likely to experience the procedure mentioned below:

Eye testing and treatment procedure at Optimal Vision

  • Our ophthalmic specialist will ask you to describe any symptom or problem with vision that you may be experiencing lately.
  • The doctor will also ask detailed questions about your general health and current medications. It is better you carry a written list of medicines you’re taking while appearing for an eye test at our clinic.
  • Your ophthalmic health history will also be brushed up.
  • Vision-related problems in your family – like glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and others – will be covered as well.

Depending on all these factors and some more, the doctor will draw a customised guideline for your eyes and vision.

People, who are into sports like squash, golf, tennis, drive a lot or use computers more than the average subject their eyes to much strain. Our eye specialist will formulate different plans for such people to keep their eyes healthy and vision clear.

Comprehensive eye check-up at our London clinic

A comprehensive range of exams are carried out at our eye testing and treatment clinic located at Harley Street, London to assess both the internal and external conditions of your eyes. The following tests will be carried out for the purpose:

  • Eye movement and balance of the eye muscles: These tests help understand how both the eyes move and work together.
  • Visual fields: Usually we conduct the gold-standard Humphrey SITA test to diagnose the integrity of the visual pathway ranging from your eye to the cortex located behind your brain. This test when conducted by our skilled and experienced eye doctor reveals a broad range of nerve and eye-related diseases.
  • Reflexes of the pupils: We also conduct this vital neurological test to get the necessary insight about your vision-related wellbeing.
  • Screening the anterior chamber angles:

In addition to the tests mentioned above, we also provide screening of the anterior chamber angles to understand your chances of developing acute glaucoma in the days to come. If the angles are found to be narrow, our technically sound ophthalmologist will use specially designed tools like gonioscope or the high-end Zeiss HD-OCT anterior segment technology for further assessment.

  • Measuring eye pressures: At Optimal Vision, we rely on the Pascal DCT tono-meter, a precision device, for accurate measurement of your eye pressure. Unlike the other procedures, this allows us to automatically compensate for the thickness of your cornea.
  • Corneal thickness: The Zeiss Cirrus HD-OCT is the preferred procedure for measuring the thickness of your cornea at our London eye clinic.

In addition to the ones mentioned above, we also perform biomicroscopy to measure the integrity of your conjunctiva, cornea and the eye lids.
